Leeds United were praised during the summer for their transfer activity, despite selling last season’s top scorer Chris Wood to Burnley. The Championship club also worked hard behind the scenes to tie down current members of the squad to new deals. The latest person to put pen to paper on a new contract is youngster Conor Shaughnessy, who has agreed a four-year deal following an impressive rise to the first team. The 21-year-old joined the Whites academy last year after leaving Reading, and his displays for the development squad caught the eye of the senior management team.Thomas Christiansen, who replaced Garry Monk as manager in the summer, has opted to play the youngster in the centre of defence rather than midfield, where he was positioned at Reading. So far, Shaughnessy has made three Championship appearances, two of which were starts, and three outings in the Carabao Cup.After the ink dried on his contract, the Republic of Ireland Under-18 international sent a video message to the supporters.
