da blaze casino: Crystal Palace find themselves at a strange crossroads at the mid-point of the Premier League season.
da prosport bet: While significant change was anticipated at Selhurst Park, it has all seemingly occurred at once, with Marc Guehi jetting off to Manchester City now officially confirmed.
Alongside this development, it was also revealed that Oliver Glasner would be leaving the Eagles’ dug-out at the end of the season, with the speculation that was constantly in the air surrounding the Austrian’s departure from South London finally verified.
Where do the Premier League side go next?
In the short-term, it will be paramount that Palace replace Guehi effectively. But, in the long-term heading into the summer, the powers that be at the Eagles will surely have to start writing down a list of successors they deem capable of steering the ship, post-Glasner.
Top candidates to replace Glasner at Palace
As is expected in the whirlwind world of football, there are already some interesting coaches being tipped to come in and pick up the pieces, once the 51-year-old is gone.
Indeed, BBC Sport has reported that AFC Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola is one target catching their eye, with sources stating that Palace are keeping tabs on the Spaniard’s ongoing situation on the South Coast.
Alongside Iraola’s name being thrown about, talkSPORT has further added to the rumour mill by suggesting that both Getafe’s Jose Bordalas and Rayo Vallecano’s Inigo Perez are being looked at, but they’re far from the most intriguing names listed.
TalkSPORT also alleges that Coventry City boss Frank Lampard is a top target to fill the vacancy when Glasner exits, having been noted as a ‘strong contender’ for the position.
Palace owner Steve Parish is said to be a big admirer of the job the Chelsea icon is doing with the Sky Blues, as they sit pretty at the top of the Championship pile.
It is noted that it could be an issue getting Lampard in through the door if he does achieve promotion to the Premier League at Coventry, but he is expected to feature high up the list of options when a call needs to be made.
Why Lampard could be another Vieira
Palace fans will be erring on the side of caution when it comes to Lampard possibly taking on another top-flight gig, having struggled with both Everton and Chelsea, but he could end up being Patrick Vieira 2.0 at Selhurst Park, as another legendary ex-midfielder tries to cope with the pressures of managing in South London.

While the table above does justify why Palace got rid of Vieira and succeeded without him, with Glasner boasting more wins and even an FA Cup triumph to boot, the Frenchman was far from a complete failure in charge of the Eagles.
During his short-lived spell in charge, the ex-Arsenal great would prove to be very beneficial to the youngsters at his disposal, with Guehi getting his first opportunities in a Palace shirt under the current Genoa boss.
Moreover, he also managed to get eight goals and five assists out of Conor Gallagher from 37 appearances, before he became a £35m purchase for Tottenham Hotspur.
Ultimately, though, despite being well regarded by his playing personnel, with Cheikhou Kouyate hailing him as an “unbelievable” presence to learn from, he would be dismissed, with Palace hopeful that Lampard can be the same awe-inspiring figure who demands respect from minute one if he were to swap the CBS Arena for Selhurst Park.

Much like Vieira, who has had a hot-and-cold time in the management game – away from Palace – with only two wins next to his name this season with Genoa, Lampard has also been through the wringer, with a worrying 38 Premier League wins all he can boast about, from 104 matches in the dug-out.
Still, he would be worth a punt, away from his illustrious standing in the game as a midfield ace, based on the “special job” he is currently overseeing at Coventry, as per Jermaine Jenas, with the entertaining Sky Blues leading the way in the Championship this season with a blistering 16 wins secured from 27 games.
As Sky Sports’ David Prutton has further put it, it’s been quite the “astonishing” turnaround of fortunes for Coventry, who were stuck in 17th spot in late 2024 when Lampard took over, with Parish hopeful he can bring that same fresh impetus to Palace to cut through the doom and gloom of the end of Glasner.
Having also been instrumental in developing the likes of Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori when in charge of Derby County, it does have the feel of a Vieira-style appointment, only this time the hope will be that another gamble works out better in the long run.
